A side-by-side comparison of PC Mobile and Freedom Mobile across plans, pricing, 5G coverage, roaming, perks, and customer support. PC Mobile is a prepaid-only MVNO running on Bell's nationwide network, offering budget-friendly no-contract plans with PC Optimum rewards. Freedom Mobile is an independent carrier focused on major urban centres in BC, Ontario, and Alberta, offering postpaid and prepaid plans with Canada-US-Mexico roaming included as standard.
Plans & pricing
PC Mobile offers prepaid-only plans with no contract, running on Bell's network. All plans include unlimited talk and text, and every plan comes with a top-up data bonus. Freedom Mobile offers both postpaid and annual prepaid options, with all main postpaid plans including Canada-US-Mexico roaming as standard. Both carriers support eSIM. Below are all available plans for each carrier.
PC Mobile stands out at the entry level, with a $19/month prepaid plan that undercuts Freedom's lowest postpaid plan of $35/month. Its $25/month 5G plan now includes just 4GB of base data (5GB with the auto top-up bonus), a much thinner offer than Freedom's $35/month 10GB plan; data-hungry users are better matched by PC Mobile's $30/month plan (10GB base, 15GB with top-up) or $34/month plan (50GB base, 55GB with top-up). Freedom's higher-tier postpaid plans still offer significantly more data per dollar at the top end, and all main Freedom plans include Canada-US-Mexico roaming at no extra cost, which PC Mobile does not offer. Freedom also provides annual and multi-month prepaid options starting at $90 for six months for light users who want a long-term backup plan.
5G and network coverage
Coverage data is based on registered tower locations from the ISED tower registry and Statistics Canada 2021 census boundaries, updated March 2026. PC Mobile runs on Bell's network and inherits Bell's national coverage footprint. Freedom Mobile operates its own independent network concentrated in BC, Ontario, and Alberta.
PC Mobile, running on Bell's network, covers 92.8% of Canadians on 4G and 76.5% on 5G nationwide. This includes Atlantic Canada, Quebec, rural areas, and all provinces and territories. Freedom Mobile's coverage is limited to urban centres in three provinces: BC (91.1% 4G), Ontario (84.2% 4G), and Alberta (81.4% 4G). Outside those areas, Freedom coverage drops sharply, with Quebec at just 1.3% 4G and all other provinces and territories at 0%. For anyone outside Freedom's coverage footprint, PC Mobile's Bell-network access is the clear advantage.

Roaming rates compared
PC Mobile does not offer international roaming on any of its plans. If you travel outside Canada, PC Mobile is not a viable option. Freedom Mobile, by contrast, includes unlimited talk and text in Canada, the US, and Mexico as standard on all main postpaid plans. Select plans also include Roam Beyond data for 120+ international destinations. Additional Roam Beyond passes can be purchased for extended international travel.
United States and Mexico
| Option | PC Mobile | Freedom Mobile |
|---|---|---|
| US and Mexico included | No roaming available | Yes, included on all main postpaid plans |
International (120+ destinations) - Roam Beyond
| Option | PC Mobile | Freedom Mobile |
|---|---|---|
| Included Roam Beyond data | Not available | 1GB - 20GB depending on plan tier |
| Additional 30-day pass (5GB) | Not available | $30 (includes unlimited talk & text) |
| Additional 30-day pass (10GB) | Not available | $50 (includes unlimited talk & text) |
Freedom Mobile wins the roaming comparison outright. PC Mobile offers no roaming options at all, making it unsuitable for travellers. Freedom's inclusion of Canada-US-Mexico on all main plans, combined with Roam Beyond access for 120+ destinations and the option to purchase additional passes, makes it the stronger choice for anyone who travels.
Device financing
PC Mobile does not sell mobile devices and therefore does not offer device financing. Freedom Mobile offers 24-month device financing through its MyTab/TradeUp Payment Program, allowing customers to spread the cost of a new phone over two years. Once the 24-month term is complete, the device payment drops off the bill or customers can upgrade to a new device.
Perks and add-ons
PC Mobile includes PC Optimum rewards integration across all plans. New customers earn 20,000 PC Optimum points after two months of service. Every top-up earns 5% of the top-up value in PC Optimum points, and an additional 5% is earned when signing up for Auto-Allowance or Allowance paid with a PC Financial Mastercard or PC Money Account. All four plans include unlimited international messaging and a top-up data bonus: 1GB on the $19 plan (top-up bonus), 1GB on the $25 plan, and 5GB on the $30 and $34 plans (auto top-up bonus). The $25, $30, and $34 plans also include unlimited US calls and unlimited long distance calling. PC Mobile supports eSIM. PC Mobile does not offer international roaming, device sales, or a price lock guarantee.
Freedom Mobile includes Canada-US-Mexico roaming as standard on all main postpaid plans, saving most users $13 or more per travel day compared to add-on roaming costs. Select plans carry a Price Freeze Promise, guaranteeing the monthly rate will not increase. Plans from the $40 tier and above include Roam Beyond data for 120+ international destinations. Annual prepaid plans at $129 and $159 per year, plus $90 (talk & text only) and $150 (90GB) six-month prepaid options, offer a low-cost option for backup or light users. Freedom supports eSIM and offers 24-month device financing. Freedom has no sub-brands.
Customer support
Freedom Mobile offers a broader range of support channels, including messaging-based options via Apple Messages, WhatsApp, and RCS Messaging, which allow customers to get help without calling. PC Mobile's support is limited to phone, email, and in-store, with no chat or messaging options. Freedom also scores significantly higher in customer satisfaction at 3.8/5 versus PC Mobile's 1.0/5 on Topicks.ca.
